Actor John Leguizamo, 65, shared a video on Instagram telling fans who follow ICE to unfollow him and not attend his shows or watch his films amid controversy over immigration enforcement

John Leguizamo has issued a stark warning to supporters of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, urging them to stay away from his performances and films.

The 65-year-old actor and comedian posted a video to his Instagram account on Wednesday, making his position crystal clear that he wants nothing to do with fans who back ICE. In the footage, Leguizamo looked straight into the camera with a stern demeanor and declared, “If you follow ICE, unfollow me.”

He further elaborated on his stance regarding immigration, stating, “Don’t come to my shows and don’t watch my movies.” Leguizamo accompanied the video with a caption reading, “Abolish ice!”

The post rapidly went viral, accumulating nearly 300,000 likes in just 10 hours. The video also attracted backing from other celebrities, including Everybody Loves Raymond star Brad Garrett, who wrote, “Me too!”, reports the Irish Star.

Leguizamo joins a growing list of prominent voices condemning ICE amid rising fury over its enforcement tactics, especially in the wake of operations in Minnesota and the fatal shootings of Alex Pretti and Renée Good by ICE agents. Pretti, a 37-year-old intensive care unit nurse, was fatally shot by ICE agents on January 24 after he allegedly tried to step in on behalf of a woman who had been pushed to the ground by agents.

Although Department of Homeland Security and Border Patrol officials initially stated Pretti had “brandished” a firearm, bystander footage seems to reveal an agent taking Pretti’s legally owned handgun moments before two other agents fired 10 shots at him.

Leguizamo has consistently been vocal about liberal causes and regularly criticizes President Donald Trump. His Instagram feed is presently dominated by anti-ICE and anti-Trump administration content. Back in August, he also called out actor Dean Cain after Cain posted a video suggesting he had enlisted with ICE. Cain subsequently defended the agency during a TMZ Live interview, insisting that Pretti definitely wasn’t simply acting as a peaceful protester before his death.

Leguizamo’s video emerged soon after fellow star Natalie Portman displayed visible emotion while discussing ongoing ICE enforcement actions. The 44 year old Portman appeared at the premiere of her movie The Gallerist at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah on Saturday, sporting an ICE OUT pin.

The premiere occurred on the same day Pretti lost his life. At a media briefing, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem stated that Pretti had “reacted violently” and raised concerns about why he was in possession of a lawfully owned firearm. She asserted he had “impeded their law enforcement operations, attacked those officers, had a weapon on him and multiple, dozens of rounds of ammunition.”

Addressing the press, Portman remarked, “It’s such a horrible day, it’s been a horrible week. What is happening in our country is just on the scene.” She went on to say, “What Trump and Kristi Noem and ICE are doing to our citizens and undocumented people is outrageous and needs to end.”

The actress elaborated, “I’m very moved by all the people coming out and supporting each other in the community and showing the best of America. It’s just too much, it needs to end.” During a separate conversation with journalists, Portman commented, “Of course, we’re at an unfortunately horrific moment in our country with the federal government attacking civilians in our own cities.” While expressing appreciation for celebrating her movie, she noted, “it’s impossible to ignore what ICE is doing to our country.”

Additional celebrities, such as Mandy Moore and Ariana Grande, voiced their reactions in public forums. Moore reshared a headline from The New York Times, writing, “We have eyeballs. We’ve seen the video. They executed someone else. I’m not sure how this ends. This is terrifying territory.” Grande amplified a message from New York City mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani, who stated, “ICE terrorizes our cities. ICE puts us all in danger. Abolish ICE.”

Pretti’s family subsequently issued a statement, attributing his death to ‘murdering and cowardly thugs. ‘ They expressed, “Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends,” and added that his “last thought and act was to protect a woman.” They concluded with a plea, “Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man.”

Although the family pointed fingers at ICE, officials verified that Department of Homeland Security officers were responsible for the shooting. Video evidence of the incident continues to cast doubt on official narratives regarding Pretti’s demise.
