Zootopia 2 Becomes Hollywood’s Highest-Grossing Film Of 2025 And Makes History In China

For almost eleven months, the highest-grossing Hollywood movie of 2025 has been the Lilo and Stitch live-action adaptation, followed by The Minecraft Movie. Zootopia 2 reaches a new milestone

Previously, Lilo and Stitch held the title of the highest-grossing Hollywood film of 2025 with a whopping box office earnings of ₹9407 crore. However, that has been easily taken over by Zootopia 2 as its box office hits ₹10301 crore. This is not just massive for Disney, but also for animated films as a whole.

It had already broken records as the biggest opener for an animated film and now with 2025 ending soon, it stands as the one with the biggest box office count. Needless to say, fans want to go watch the sequel and are loving it. Clips of it have also been going viral online, with people appreciating the dynamics between Judy and Nick.

Earning this much money in just 20 days is a massive feat that hasn’t gone unnoticed either. Fans have been celebrating this win for Disney since the film was truly an enjoyable project rather than something that felt like a cash grab.

Zootopia 2 makes history in China

If there is anything Zootopia 2 has proven, it is that people still want to go and watch movies on the big screen. The only movie that could now break this record is Disney’s own Avatar: Fire and Ash. Currently, the highest-grossing movie of 2025 is the Chinese animated film, Ne Zha 2. It has a box office earnings of $2.2 Billion (as per Variety) (₹19956 crore approx).

The film has made history by becoming the second-highest-grossing Hollywood film in China, followed only by Avengers: Endgame. The Chinese market is massive for making movies a massive success, and two of the highest-grossers of 2025 got their primary profit, that is, over $500 million (₹4525 crore), from the Chinese viewers.
