Chairman of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh Professor Mamun Ahmed has suggested the effective application of research-based knowledge and technology to solve the country’s social problems and the development of artificial intelligence capable of deeply understanding language, culture, religious values and social context.
He made the remarks at the two-day 6th Young Scientist Congress at the National Science and Technology Complex of Agargaon in the capital, organised by the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences, said a press release.
Mentioning that the world is now in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Professor Mamun said, ‘Artificial intelligence is transforming life and workplaces and young Bangladeshi scientists are the driving force behind this change.’
Presided over by the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences vice-president Professor ZN Tahmida Begum, posts, telecommunications and information technology and science and technology minister Fakir Mahbub Anam was present as chief guest at the congress themed Young Scientists for Artificial Intelligence.
Science and technology secretary Md Anwar Hossain, secretary of the academy Professor Yarul Kabir, chairperson of the conference organising committee retired major general Professor ASM Matiur Rahman and Professor Liaquat Ali spoke on the inaugural day of the congress.
The congress is featuring technical sessions, research presentations, panel discussions and technology exhibitions, with participation from universities, research institutions and technology-related organisations.
Young scientists from across the country are taking part in the event, showcasing their research, innovations and future prospects in the field of artificial intelligence.
