Tech Explained: Here’s a simplified explanation of the latest technology update around Tech Explained: Government partners with Google and YouTube for creative sector AI training push in Simple Termsand what it means for users..
The ministry of information and broadcasting (MIB) has announced a national AI skilling initiative for India’s creative sector, in partnership with the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT), Google and YouTube. The programme will offer 15,000 scholarships aimed at building advanced AI skills among creators, media professionals and digital storytellers.
Anchored by IICT, the initiative is part of an effort to integrate artificial intelligence into creative education and production workflows. It is designed as a selective training pathway for talent across media, entertainment, animation, gaming and digital storytelling.
IICT will oversee the rollout, including programme design and execution, with input from Google and YouTube. The curriculum is expected to combine AI tools, creative workflows and platform-specific practices, with an emphasis on practical, industry-ready skills.
The programme builds on the earlier ‘Create with AI’ initiative introduced by IICT and YouTube, and reflects a wider push by the government to position India as a hub for digital content and innovation.
According to information and broadcasting minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the initiative is intended to strengthen AI capabilities in areas such as animation, visual effects, gaming and media technology, while supporting creators and developers in acquiring future-ready skills.
The training will be delivered in two phases. The first will focus on foundational AI literacy, with participants receiving access to Google Career Certificates and generative AI learning paths. The second phase will involve project-based specialisation, including storytelling techniques, advanced AI tools and YouTube-focused best practices, delivered through a hybrid model across key creative hubs.
Officials involved in the programme said the aim is to move beyond basic awareness of AI towards practical application in content creation, production and distribution.
