As the T20 World Cup fast approaches, we take a look at the broadcaster for the competition in India.

Will Star Sports Network and JioStar broadcast the T20 World Cup 2026 in India?

As per the existing contract, JioStar has the right to broadcast matches in ICC competitions in India after it entered into a three-year broadcast deal with the International Cricket Council for the period between 2024 to 2027. The deal was worth $3 billion.

However, according to a report from Economic Times (via Deccan Herald), JioStar might consider pulling out of the deal after incurring massive losses.

The broadcaster’s audited account reportedly revealed that its loss substantially increased from INR 12,319 crore to INR 25,760 crore in just one financial year.

The losses were reportedly incurred during the 2024 T20 World Cup and the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, which is forcing JioStar to pull out of the deal prematurely.

Sony Pictures Networks India, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video are among the contenders, who could bid for the rights, although no formal offers have been put forward.
