Sheringham Town Council and Sheringham Sports Association have long been considering how best to modernise the 1990s-built Sports Pavilion near The Reef Leisure Centre on Weybourne Road.
While refurbishment and extension remain on the table, both organisations acknowledge that upgrading the existing facility to meet modern standards would be both “challenging and costly”.
Early scoping work has identified land south of Sheringham High School and Woodfields School as a possible site for the new development.

If progressed, the hub would feature modern facilities and high-quality pitches and would provide better sports provision than is currently available in the town.
It is said the move could also enable the growth of Sheringham Football and Cricket Clubs.
Architects Chaplin Farrant have been engaged to examine options, and discussions are ongoing with key stakeholders including local schools and sports organisations.
Funding for the scheme would involve some built development, such as housing, and if the project goes ahead, the current site would likely be redeveloped for housing or employment use.
If the plan proves unviable, efforts will turn back to upgrading the existing pavilion.
Town councillor Peter Ratcliffe said: “This project could be really exciting.
“It is big and ambitious and we now want to know whether it is achievable.
