In a devastating weather event, unseasonal rains have claimed two lives and wreaked havoc on agriculture across 11,500 hectares in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra. The recent data from the divisional commissioner’s office highlights the severe impact in 533 villages.
The deceased individuals, identified as Gulab Markad, 33, from Hingoli, and Dipika Rathod, 16, from Nanded, tragically lost their lives to lightning strikes between March 16 and 19. Additionally, rain-related incidents resulted in the loss of 41 animals.
The agricultural impact is equally severe, with 20896 farmers reporting crop damage over an expansive area. The affected districts include Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Nanded, Beed, Latur, and Dharashiv, underscoring the widespread nature of this unseasonal weather phenomenon.
