A devastating explosion at a chemical factory near Karekatte village has left two workers dead and four others seriously injured, according to local police reports.
The tragic incident occurred on Sunday amid the factory’s relocation of its chemical storage facilities. Sources indicate the blast took place while materials were being moved, causing immediate casualties and sparking an urgent response.
Previous safety concerns at the facility have been amplified by this incident, following a 2022 toxic gas leak that harmed local crops, livestock, and human health. Consequently, local authorities, including a local MLA and district administration, had been involved in halting operations and pushing for the factory’s relocation.
