A tragic fire in southwest Delhi’s Palam area led to the deaths of nine family members, including three children, in a multi-storey residential building. The blaze broke out early Wednesday morning, prompting a massive firefighting and rescue operation by local authorities.
The five-storey building housed a showroom on the lower floors, and the family lived above. Despite desperate attempts to escape the flames, three members survived with injuries, while others were confirmed dead at the hospital. Over 30 fire tenders and 11 ambulances participated in the response as smoke billowed from the building.
The area remains cordoned off for investigation, with forensic teams on-site to determine the fire’s cause. Officials have called for a thorough investigation as they examine the heartbreaking incident’s circumstances.
