Telangana’s Chief Minister, A Revanth Reddy, announces significant steps towards a greener future. At an event celebrating International Women’s Day, he proposed providing electric scooters to female college students, a promise from the ruling Congress party, though not feasible this financial year.
Reddy detailed plans to replace Hyderabad’s diesel buses with EVs by 2026 and introduce a retrofit plan for converting autos to run on electricity. The ambitious agenda includes banning single-use plastics and relocating polluting industries outside the city limits to tackle pollution.
Highlighting economic growth objectives, Reddy expressed the state’s vision of expanding the economy from $200 billion to $1 trillion in eight years. Concurrently, efforts to redevelop the Musi river and erect a statue of Mahatma Gandhi were discussed amidst political controversies and challenges.
