On Friday night, a significant 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck Pakistan, creating widespread concern but fortunately causing no reported damage to life or property. The epicenter was located in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region.
According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC), the quake was logged at 9:13 PM from a depth of 190 kilometers. The tremor was notably felt in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, and other regions including parts of Punjab.
Given its position on the Arabian, Indian, and Eurasian tectonic plates’ boundary, Pakistan frequently encounters such quakes, including recent ones in February and its most tragic in 2005, which led to massive fatalities.
