The Kerala Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Limited (MILMA) has joined forces with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) to establish a state-of-the-art food testing laboratory in Kochi. Officials announced on Thursday that the laboratory will function at the MILMA Ernakulam Regional Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd. (ERCMPU) campus.

The new facility, NDDB CALF (Centre for Analysis and Learning in Livestock and Food) Laboratory, is set to be inaugurated by George Kurian, the Union Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, this Saturday. It promises to uphold the rigorous quality standards seen in other NDDB CALF facilities.

Initially serving the dairy industry, the lab plans to broaden its scope to include spices, fruits, vegetables, and more. Accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), the facility aims to assist government departments in food safety risk mitigation with its cutting-edge instruments.
