Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has emphasized climate change as an urgent governance issue, particularly impacting coastal cities such as Mumbai, which face extreme weather conditions.
During the inaugural session of Mumbai Climate Week, Fadnavis called for robust implementation, increased investments, and international partnerships to combat climate change effectively. He stressed the need for sustainable transformation that includes renewable energy, clean hydrogen, and electric mobility.
Fadnavis highlighted Maharashtra’s goal of achieving over 50% green energy by 2030 while pushing for climate-resilient agriculture and efficient water management. He urged global cooperation and climate finance, noting Mumbai’s potential to become a hub for climate action.
