We explore the scientific background, research findings, and environmental impact of Science Insight: ISRO’s Mission MITRA: Testing Gaganyatris in Extreme Conditions – Explained

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has unveiled Mission MITRA, a groundbreaking initiative set in Ladakh that aims to investigate the dynamics between astronauts and ground teams in high-altitude conditions.

Running until April 9, this mission, occurring at roughly 3,500 meters in Leh, aims to gather crucial data on physiological and psychological aspects. The study will simulate real spaceflight challenges through conditions such as hypoxia and low temperatures.

Designed in collaboration with the IAF-Institute of Aerospace Medicine, the mission underscores the need for effective team communication and decision-making under stress, critical for the success of human spaceflight missions, according to ISRO’s statement.
