On Saturday, around 40 startup founders and business representatives gathered in Delhi to devise strategies aimed at addressing the city’s persistent air pollution, a severe problem with pollution levels consistently ranked in the ‘severe’ category.
Participants, including venture capitalists and private equity representatives, explored solutions ranging from carpooling initiatives to agricultural waste management. Vishal Lavti of Quick Ride highlighted the potential of carpooling to reduce vehicular emissions without the need for new infrastructure.
Roshan Shankar from Saroja Earth proposed using rice straw for products like biochar and fuel pellets to combat crop residue burning. Moreover, plans were set in motion to present some of these proposals to city officials for wider implementation, according to Shradha Sharma, organizer of the meeting.
