In a south Delhi residential building, a short circuit early Wednesday sparked a fire injuring two people, including a former BJP councillor. The fire was reported around 5.44 am near Chirag Delhi Metro Station, leading to a swift response by police and fire services.
Rakesh Gulia, aged 55 and the building owner, sustained minor burns and was treated at AIIMS Trauma Centre. A three-year-old child also suffered minor injuries. Both are now stable, according to officials on the scene.
The fire caused significant damage to the building’s upper floors before being controlled by three fire tenders. Ongoing investigations aim to determine the full extent of the fire’s impact.
