The Delhi government has rolled out an ambitious plan aiming to curb air pollution and clean the Yamuna River by 2028. Key interventions, such as installing misting systems at 62 pollution hotspots and strengthening sewage and industrial waste treatment, form the backbone of the initiative.
Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa emphasized the multi-term strategies focused on dust, transport emissions, and waste management. The project also features the expansion of mechanical road sweeping, approvals for dust mitigation plans, and waste-to-energy projects aimed for completion by 2026-27.
In an effort to enhance the Yamuna’s cleanliness, additional biogas plants will be established, and industries are urged to adopt effluent treatment solutions. These efforts are set alongside proposals for better transport infrastructure and last-mile connectivity improvements across Delhi.
