The Delhi government has unveiled 25 Atal Canteens across the city, aimed at offering affordable and nutritious meals to the urban poor and underprivileged communities. This initiative is part of a broader scheme designed to fight hunger and financial hardship among the city’s most vulnerable.
Chief Minister Gupta inaugurated one of these canteens in Krishna Nagar, emphasizing the government’s commitment that no Delhi resident should go to bed hungry. The initiative also saw participation from Union Minister Harsh Malhotra and local officials, who praised the quick implementation by the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB).
The canteens, serving approximately 1,000 meals per day each, are expected to benefit over 100,000 people daily throughout the city. With an allocation of Rs 104 crore, the scheme not only aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision but also commemorates the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, as the initiative launched on December 25.
