The Delhi government has announced a major financial boost for local urban development efforts, approving Rs 687.22 crore as the final installment under the Basic Tax Assignment scheme. This funding round provides substantial aid to various local bodies, including the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), which has received the largest allocation of over Rs 673 crore. The funds are designated for enhancing civic services and infrastructure improvements.
Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood highlighted the targeted use of these funds, emphasizing their importance in supporting public interest projects, such as improving sanitation and essential services. Additionally, the government has extended a one-time financial aid of Rs 500 crore aimed explicitly at bolstering MCD’s efforts in waste management and sanitation enhancement.
Minister Sood reassured the public that these funds will be used judiciously for approved purposes, with stringent monitoring measures in place.
