A dramatic scene unfolded in Daman when a leopard wandered into a sweet shop, sparking a tense 10-hour rescue mission. Forest personnel acted quickly to capture the animal, which had been elusive around urban areas in the days leading up to the incident.
The leopard was discovered perched on a third-floor staircase, necessitating an urgent response from forest officials who used tranquilliser guns, nets, and cages. Despite the animal’s repeated aggressive behavior, forest personnel, supported by their colleagues from nearby Maharashtra and Gujarat, managed to safely contain it.
The operation, which saw minor injuries to one of the staff, was closely monitored by top officials, underscoring the seriousness with which local authorities approached the potential threat to public safety.
