Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani issued a directive on Sunday for stringent measures against unauthorized hawkers. This comes two days after a civic team faced an attack in Mumbai’s Kandivli area.
A BMC release detailed the incident where a mob targeted officials, damaging vehicles and equipment as they conducted an anti-encroachment operation. Police responded by arresting five individuals under different sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).
Gagrani, during a site visit, emphasized the need for strict action against hawkers and shopkeepers obstructing public pathways. He also highlighted the ongoing efforts to maintain pedestrian safety while condemning such assaults on civic workers.
