The biting cold swept across Punjab and Haryana on Thursday, with temperatures in some areas dipping to freezing levels, intensifying an already chilling spell, according to meteorological reports.
Of particular note, Hisar registered a bone-chilling low of 0.2 degrees Celsius, making it the coldest spot across both states. This was six notches below the typical temperature, with history indicating the region’s susceptibility to severe cold, as evidenced by sub-zero temperatures in previous years.
Elsewhere in Haryana, cities like Narnaul and Gurugram also shivered with low temperatures, while Punjab towns such as Bathinda experienced mercury dips of similar magnitude. The cold further compounded morning challenges with fog significantly reducing visibility.
