Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared on Tuesday (10 February) that the Babri structure would never be rebuilt, warning those still dreaming of its reconstruction that “doomsday will never come” and they would rot and perish.

The firebrand leader made the remarks while addressing a religious gathering at the Shri Ram Janaki Temple in Dulhadepur Kuti, Barabanki, during the 10th Shri Hanuman Virat Mahayagya.

Reiterating his position on the Babri structure, CM Yogi said, “We are saying it again today, till the Day of Qayamat. And since that day is never going to come, the reconstruction of the Babri structure will never happen.”

He added that those nurturing hopes of rebuilding the Babri structure were living in illusion.

Urging people to respect the rule of law, Yogi Adityanath said citizens should focus on living by India’s legal framework rather than waiting for the “Day of Qayamat.”

“Follow the law of this land. If you do, you will benefit. If you break the law, the path leads straight to punishment. Anyone dreaming of heaven by violating the law is living in a fantasy,” he said.

The event commemorated late Mahant Baba Harishankar Das Maharaj, with the CM emphasising his government’s track record of matching words with action.

CM Yogi Adityanath referenced the Ram temple construction in Ayodhya, stating his administration had fulfilled its pledge to build the temple after 500 years.

He questioned why previous governments failed to consider building a temple at Lord Ram’s birthplace despite India gaining independence in 1947.

The Chief Minister also criticised what he termed “opportunists” who remember Lord Ram only during crises, saying there was no place for “Ramdrohis” or traitors of Lord Ram.

The remarks come amid political controversy in West Bengal, where suspended Trinamool Congress leader Humayun Kabir laid the foundation stone for a mosque modelled on the Babri Masjid on 6 December 2025, coinciding with the anniversary of the disputed structure’s demolition.

CM Yogi Adityanath contrasted current conditions in Uttar Pradesh with the pre-2017 period, which he claimed was plagued by riots, frequent curfews and pervasive insecurity.

He asserted that law and order had been significantly strengthened under his administration, with an atmosphere of security now established.

The Chief Minister also linked the Ram temple movement to India’s cultural heritage and Sanatan traditions, recalling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Ayodhya on 25 November when a grand saffron flag was hoisted at the Ram temple.
