Vijayawada: Bhogi festival celebrations across Andhra Pradesh took on a political hue on Wednesday, as leaders from both the ruling NDA alliance and the opposition YSR Congress Party used the occasion to energise cadres and target rivals.In Vijayawada, MP Kesineni Sivanath joined Bhogi festivities where passbooks bearing the photograph of former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy—issued during the previous YSRCP government—were symbolically burnt in the bonfire. Addressing supporters, he alleged that the State had been “used for personal gain” in the past and promised new passbooks for farmers to reflect transparency and agricultural commitment.In a counter move, former minister Ambati Rambabu took part in Bhogi festivities in Guntur, where he composed and daned to songs criticising the TDP–Jana Sena–BJP alliance.
