Sanjay Raut, a leader from the Shiv Sena (UBT), expressed his strong disapproval of India’s position amidst the escalating tensions in West Asia. The comments came after joint US-Israeli operations against Iran, which he claimed have led to India’s diminished presence on the global stage.
Raut, who serves as a Rajya Sabha MP, argued in his weekly column in the Shiv Sena’s mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ that India should have stepped in to mediate the conflict, highlighting the perceived emptiness of the nation’s leadership under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has remained silent on the issue.
Alleging that the United States and Israel are behaving like ‘global bullies’, Raut criticized large countries like India for acting as submissive agents rather than assertive world powers. He cited the ongoing conflict as evidence of Iran’s resilience, despite aggressive posturing by the US and Israel.
