Jalandhar: At a time when the AAP govt in Punjab is pushing the issue of 328 “missing” saroops of Guru Granth Sahib into the centre stage, Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira has accused the state govt of committing a “criminal betrayal” of the Sikh Panth by completely failing to deliver justice in the sacrilege cases of Guru Granth Sahib and the police firing at Behbal Kalan, even after more than four years in power.“Continued denial of justice is not mere incompetence but a deliberate and sinister deception played upon the religious sentiments of Sikhs for electoral gain. Arvind Kejriwal shamelessly stood before the sangat and promised justice within 24 hours. Bhagwant Mann repeated the same lie to harvest votes. Today, after 4 long years, AAP stands fully exposed as a party of fraud, hypocrisy and hollow slogans,” Khaira alleged in a statement issued here on Saturday.
“Why is it that this govt moves at lightning speed to slap false FIRs on opposition leaders, journalists and dissenters, but suddenly becomes paralysed, blind and mute when it comes to arresting those who desecrated Guru Granth Sahib and those who ordered bullets to be fired at unarmed Sikh protesters at Behbal Kalan?” Khaira asked. He said repeated changes of SITs, endless inquiries and media announcements were nothing but a smokescreen to protect powerful beneficiaries of sacrilege and police excesses.
