Pine Labs’ Setu launches India’s first AI-driven bill-payment assistant on ChatGPT, Claude
The new service fetches bills in real time, checks for unusual or inflated charges and executes payments within user-defined limits, the company said in a statement. The roll-out targets pain points such as missed due dates and errors in manual bill tracking.
“India’s digital public infrastructure has transformed how we pay, but the work behind monthly bills has remained manual,” Pine Labs CEO B. Amrish Rau said. “This agentic experience brings automation and trust together, giving people a smarter, safer way to handle their bills.”
Setu said the system compares each bill with past patterns to detect anomalies and only pays using pre-blocked funds approved by the customer. Users can set limits and approvals to ensure the assistant does not trigger incorrect transactions.
The product first goes live on OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Anthropic’s Claude and will expand to other AI platforms in phases. Setu said the experience is designed so consumers retain full control while delegating routine tasks.
Setu-operated by BrokenTusk Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of Pine Labs-provides API-led solutions for payments, data and digital public infrastructure. Its platform supports eKYC, account aggregation, underwriting insights and UPI payment capabilities for banks, lenders and billers.
