Guwahati has received a major boost to its air travel scene and overall mobility with the introduction of the brand-new terminal at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, which began its operations on February 22, 2026. As operations began on Sunday, the city not just got a wonderful transit point but also created a new space for tourists to enjoy before taking off to their preferred destinations.

The new structure is almost seven times larger than the old terminal, with high ceilings, a spacious and beautiful ambience that aids the smoothest possible passenger flow.

Guwahati International Airport’s New Terminal: Features

As one enters the terminal at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, they are greeted by a rooted design, reflecting regional preferences and cultural patterns. The warm lighting also emphasises the state’s beautiful sunrise and sunsets. The decor features orchid-inspired motifs. The presence of bamboo sticks adds another regional touch to what is a highly modern setting otherwise. The terminal uses an overall energy-efficient system and has natural ventilation.

Special Food Court At Guwahati Airport

The new terminal has a vast food court area, where you will find regional cafes and eateries offering an array of local culinary delights, be it pithas or those bamboo-smoked meats. These cafes and eating carts will also have other pan-Indian and global treats to serve tourists at the terminal.

The menu is expected to include artisanal teas from the Brahmaputra Valley, momos, comfort bowls and other snacking options for a quick meal to support your travel plans. Don’t like tea? If you are a coffee person, you can also step inside the new coffee bar at the terminal, offering fresh brews.

You can also take a glance at and purchase regional art-based decor and jewellery from the retail shops at the terminal. These ornaments and crafts are quickly becoming a favourite of tourists, helping the local brands take their products to a global consumer base. Overall, the terminal is not just state-of-the-art infrastructure but also an opportunity to turn Guwahati into a hub of tourism and trade.
