Health Update: Health Update: Wellness boxes for chemotherapy patients in Hywel Dda – What Experts Say– What Experts Say.
The boxes are now in use at Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth and Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli, made possible through funding from the Co-op Local Community Fund and organised by Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board.
Seventy-five wellness boxes have been delivered to each hospital’s chemotherapy day unit.
Bry Phillips, senior nurse manager – oncology, said: “We are so grateful to the Co-op Local Community Fund for making these wellness boxes possible.
“They will provide comfort and reassurance to our patients during what can be an incredibly difficult time, helping them feel cared for beyond their clinical treatment.”
Each box contains items chosen by nursing staff to ease the side effects of chemotherapy and support patient wellbeing during and after treatment.
The packs include beanie hats, bandanas, and caps for those experiencing hair loss; hand and body creams to soothe skin; and soft socks and gloves to help with cold sensitivity.
The boxes offer both physical comfort and emotional support, helping patients feel cared for throughout their treatment journey.
