Pierce County has announced the award recipients of its most recent round of Behavioral Health and Therapeutic Courts funding.

The BHTC funding represents nearly $34 million in investment dollars to strengthen behavioral health services across the county, a release said. Since January 2024, BHTC funding has supported services for nearly 22,000 residents — 67% of whom are younger than 18.

“These investments reflect our shared responsibility to build a behavioral health system that is accessible, coordinated, and grounded in community partnership,” said Pierce County Executive Ryan Mello in the release. “By working forward together with trusted providers, we are supporting safer communities, healthier people, and brighter futures for our youth.”

The awards will help Pierce County expand access to care across the full continuum from prevention and early intervention to treatment, recovery, and reentry while reducing reliance on crisis systems and supporting long-term stability for residents, the release said.

“From prevention to recovery, these awards strengthen the network of services residents rely on every day,” said Human Services Director Gary Gant in the release. “They honor lived experience, support our workforce, and ensure people can get help before a crisis occurs.”
