Health Update: Mendipathar MLA inaugurates Dome Anti Urban Health & Wellness Centre – What Experts Say

Resubelpara, Jan 27: Mendipathar MLA Marthon J. Sangma on Wednesday inaugurated the Dome Anti Urban Health & Wellness Centre (UHWC) in North Garo Hills district, formally dedicating the new healthcare facility to the residents of Dome Anti and surrounding villages.

Addressing the gathering, Sangma said the inauguration of the UHWC marked the fulfilment of a long-standing aspiration of the local community, as basic healthcare services would now be available closer to home. He urged residents to make full use of the facility, with special emphasis on expecting mothers, noting that timely access to maternal healthcare is crucial for ensuring healthy pregnancies and safe deliveries.

Deputy Commissioner of North Garo Hills, Dr Abhishek Saini, also spoke at the programme and appealed to the Village President and Secretary to actively mobilise women and families to avail services at the centre. He stressed the importance of promoting institutional deliveries and said collective efforts were essential to achieve the goal of Zero Maternal Mortality Rate and Zero Infant Mortality Rate in the area.

Meanwhile, District Immunization Officer Dr Rezia K. Sangma informed that the newly inaugurated UHWC will serve not only Dome Anti but also three adjoining villages, thereby strengthening access to primary healthcare services for a wider population. She added that a polyclinic will be organised once every month, during which specialist doctors will visit the centre to ensure regular health monitoring of mothers and children.
