LOWVILLE — To stress self advocacy in healthcare, the Lowville Lions will host a Wellness Matters session — Prevention Made Simple — presented by Dr. Manoj Vora, from 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday at Double Play Community Center, 6912 Bardo Road.

Dr. Vora is a board-certified internist who has served patients through the Lewis County Health System for more than 30 years. Throughout his decades of practice, Dr. Vora has cared for the adult population across Lewis County and has extensive experience managing a wide range of chronic medical conditions. While he has a particular clinical focus on diabetes, heart disease and pulmonary conditions, his work also includes the management of many other chronic illnesses that affect long-term health and quality of life.

During this month’s session, Dr. Vora will discuss the importance of self-management and personal accountability in maintaining health and managing chronic conditions. He will explain how everyday choices, consistent habits and a better understanding of one’s own health can significantly influence long-term outcomes.

The presentation will focus on helping individuals become more aware of the important role they play in their own well-being. Dr. Vora will share practical insights on how patients can actively participate in managing their health and staying on track with treatment plans.

To support participants, Dr. Vora will also provide a simple, easy-to-follow handout outlining specific, actionable steps individuals can take each day. These practical tools are designed to help attendees better understand their health, build sustainable habits and stay motivated in their journey toward better wellness.

The session aims to provide both education and encouragement, helping individuals feel more confident in managing their health and making positive lifestyle choices.

In February, podiatrist Dr. Gifferd Ko offered advise on proper foot care especially for individuals with diabetes or underlying vascular problems.

According to a Lions spokesperson the was a “wonderful turn out at Wellness Matters session,” with many new attendees to the monthly sessions.
