KAYENTA, Ariz. — On February 16, representatives from the Navajo Special Diabetes Program, Modular Solutions contractors, Navajo Tribal Utility Authority headquarters, Kayenta Township, and the Navajo Nation President’s Office conducted a coordinated site walkthrough at the Kayenta Wellness Center, marking continued progress toward the facility’s completion.

The walkthrough allowed project partners to assess current site conditions, evaluate construction status, and align on upcoming phases of work as development advances.

The Navajo Nation broke ground on the Kayenta Wellness Center on September 17, 2021, underscoring a long-term commitment to expanding access to health and wellness services for the community.

Since then, sustained planning and interagency collaboration have helped move the project forward.

Access to community-based health and fitness facilities plays a critical role in reducing the risk of Type 2 diabetes and related complications. The Kayenta Wellness Center represents a significant investment in preventive care and is expected to serve as a vital hub for physical activity, wellness education, and improved long-term health outcomes for residents.
