Health Update: Health Update: How Jyot Garara is Redefining India’s Wellness Industry – What Experts Say– What Experts Say.

An Exclusive Interview with Jyot Garara, Wellness Entrepreneur & founder of PlantGenius Labs, a leading nutrition company

In a market crowded with artificial solutions and short-term fixes, Jyot Garara, a pharmacist turned entrepreneur, is building a brand rooted in science, purpose, and long-term health. As the founder of PlantGenius Labs LLP, Jyot’s journey began not in a boardroom—but at home.

From my father’s diabetes to PlantGenius Labs – the “aha” Moment

Jyot Garara: My journey didn’t start in a lab—it started at home.  My father is diabetic, yet like many Indians, he has a deep love for sweets.

I used to see him  constantly struggle between controlling his sugar levels and enjoying the foods he loved. As a  pharmacist, I understood the science behind diabetes—but as a son, I felt helpless.

The real “aha” moment came when I realized that the problem wasn’t just discipline—it was  lack of better alternatives.

Why should someone choose between health and happiness?

While searching for a solution, I discovered monk fruit—a natural sweetener with zero  glycemic impact. It felt like I had finally found an answer that could let my father enjoy  sweetness without harming his health.

But there was a problem.

Most products in the market were either poorly formulated, had a bad aftertaste, or were not  suitable for Indian taste preferences.

That’s when I decided to create something better.

This led to the creation of TruZero, our monk fruit-based sweetener—designed specifically  for Indian households, with a clean taste, no bitterness, and real usability in daily foods.

What started as a solution for my father became a solution for thousands of families.

And that’s how PlantGenius Labs was born—not as a business, but as a mission to make  healthy living effortless.

Solving protein deficiency in Indian households

Jyot Garara: Protein deficiency in India is not just a nutritional issue—it’s a silent epidemic, especially in  vegetarian households. The challenge was not just creating protein, but making it practical.

People don’t want complicated diets. They want something that fits into their daily routine— like roti, chaas, or dal.

So instead of building a “gym product,” we focused on building a “lifestyle solution.”

This led us to create Beleaf in Plant Protein—a clean, minimal, and highly functional protein  designed for everyday use.

It contains only three ingredients:

• Pea protein isolate

• Soy protein isolate

• Brown rice protein

No fillers, no added flavors, nothing unnecessary—just pure nutrition.

With ~90% protein per scoop, the goal was simple:

Deliver high-quality protein in the most usable way.

You can easily add it into:

• Roti dough

• Masala chaas

• Cakes or pastries

• Or any daily meal

Making it not just a supplement, but a part of your regular diet.

Because the real goal is not to “consume protein”—

It’s to make sure the entire family meets their daily protein requirements, effortlessly.

If it doesn’t fit into your lifestyle, it won’t last.

Science behind GLP-1 Muscle Guard (HMB & Leucine)

Jyot Garara: With the rise of GLP-1 based weight loss therapies, we noticed a critical gap. People were losing weight—but also losing muscle.

This is dangerous because muscle loss leads to:

• Lower metabolism

• Weakness

• Long-term health risks

That’s where our formulation thinking started.

Leucine is a key trigger for muscle protein synthesis—it tells your body to build muscle. HMB (a metabolite of leucine) helps prevent muscle breakdown.

So instead of just adding protein, we designed a targeted formula:

• To preserve lean muscle

• To support recovery and strength

• To make it gut-friendly with digestive enzymes

One of the biggest challenges, however, was not just the science—but the taste.

HMB has a naturally strong bitter and slightly sour profile, which makes it very difficult to  incorporate into a protein supplement that people can consume daily.

We went through  multiple iterations and flavor trials before arriving at a version that was acceptable without  compromising the formulation. This process alone took several months.

This is not just a supplement—it’s a practical solution designed for real-world use during  weight loss.

Earning trust from endocrinologists & diabetologists

Jyot Garara: In healthcare, trust is not built through marketing—it’s built through evidence and  consistency.

We focused on:

• Science-backed formulations

• Transparent ingredient sourcing

• Real patient outcomes

We spent time engaging with doctors, understanding their clinical concerns, and aligning our  products with real-world patient needs rather than trends.

An important part of building this trust has been transparency. We share batch-wise lab test  reports with doctors, along with available clinical data and scientific literature supporting the  ingredients used in our formulations. This includes testing related to purity, preservatives,  non-GMO status, and gluten-free standards.

Our products are also manufactured in a USFDA-registered facility, which adds another layer  of process reliability and quality control.

Over time, this consistent approach helped build credibility.

Doctors began recommending us not because of promotion, but because the products aligned  with their expectations of safety, clarity, and patient relevance. We are not trying to sell shortcuts—we are trying to solve real clinical problems

How being a pharmacist shaped my entrepreneurial journey

Jyot Garara: Being a pharmacist gave me a unique advantage—I don’t just see products, I see patient  outcomes.

Most brands think in terms of “what sells.”

I think in terms of “what actually works.”

This mindset changed everything:

• We prioritize function over hype

• Long-term health over quick results

• Simplicity over complexity

It helped me build a brand that stands on credibility, not just claims.

Biggest hurdles in building these products in India

Jyot Garara: The journey was far from easy.

Some of the biggest challenges were:

• Sourcing high-quality, reliable ingredients

• Balancing cost vs quality in a price-sensitive market • Navigating regulatory frameworks

• Educating consumers about new concepts like monk fruit or HMB

But the biggest challenge was changing mindset.

People are used to reactive healthcare.

We are trying to build preventive healthcare.

Measuring success beyond sales & the future vision

Jyot Garara: For me, success is not just revenue.

Success is:

• When a diabetic person enjoys sweets without fear

• When a patient loses weight without losing strength • When a family starts making healthier choices effortlessly

That’s the real impact.

Looking ahead, our vision is to redefine wellness in India: From restriction → to smart living

From confusion → to clarity

From treatment → to prevention

We want to build a movement where health is simple, sustainable, and accessible to everyone.

From solving his father’s health challenge to addressing some of India’s biggest nutritional gaps, Jyot Garara is not just building products—he is building a movement toward smarter, healthier living.
