An application proposing the creation of a family health and wellness spa in the Leicestershire countryside – which also features a wedding and conference venue – has been approved.

Bosworth Lakeside Lodges Ltd brought forward proposals for open countryside to the west of Market Bosworth.

The scheme, located to the east of Coton Bridge Lane, includes:

A health spa including restaurant, bar, treatment rooms, swimming pool with changing facilities, gym and training facilities, reception areas, toilets and service rooms (approximately 22,070 sq ft)

  • A conference/wedding venue with reception area, toilets and service rooms (approximately 9,400 sq ft)
  • About 159 car parking spaces, including four disabled parking spaces, and 16 electric car charging points
  • Approximately two exercise pods
  • Approximately 38 holiday lodges with 76 car parking spaces

Bosworth Family Health & Wellness Spa is being promoted by Bosworth Lakeside Lodges as a second phase of leisure development to its private lodge development on the former waterpark to the east of the site.

A design and access statement said: “The proposal has been developed to reinforce the already established leisure and tourism centre to the west of Market Bosworth.

“The proposal seeks to deliver holiday lodge accommodation and a new family spa complex that will focus on health and wellness, a significant growth market in the United Kingdom’s leisure and tourism industry.”

Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council has now approved the application, subject to conditions.

A delegated report said: “The proposed development would support and complement an existing local tourism facility, subsequently enhancing the distinctiveness and economic wellbeing of the borough.”
