When talking to Poehler, who also admitted she often has a hankering for a cigarette break, Paltrow admitted she has thought about the next time she’ll take a drag.
‘Remember cigarettes,’ the Good Hang host said wistfully. ‘We know they’re very bad for you, but God, we came up in a good time.’
Paltrow then shared her plan for indulging her habit in the future.
‘You know, I decided when I’m like 87 I’m going to start smoking again,’ she said.

Gwyneth Paltrow was speaking on Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast on Tuesday when she shared her favorite nostalgic pastime: cigarettes
‘That was a great phase where it was like cigarettes and tofu with the brown rice and the seaweed,’ Paltrow reminisced.
Poehler chimed in, comparing it to ‘cleaning your house while it’s on fire.’
However, in the comments section, people were less enthusiastic about the duo’s love of smoking.
‘Funniness and nostalgia understood, however, can you stop talking about how good cigarettes are.
‘There’s an actual push right now and [smoking] is back in the media. On the rise, boooo,’ one user wrote.
‘Can’t wait for them to talk about how Gwyneth cons women into spending thousands of dollars on products that are known to be complete scams,’ another snarked about the juxtaposition with Paltrow’s wellness products.
Last year, Paltrow revealed the last cigarette she had was on the night of her wedding to Brad Falchuk in 2018.
‘Oh, sadly, I remember it well,’ she told Vogue in October 2025. ‘It was the night we got married seven years ago.

‘We were redoing our paperwork and I got life insurance, and it said that if anything happened to me and they knew that I had smoked a cigarette, it would nullify the whole thing.
‘Because I’m such an [personality type] Enneagram 1 – which is like, “integrity is everything” – I never smoked again. I miss it, though.’
On the podcast, Paltrow also opened up about her famous separation from her first husband Chris Martin, 48, whom she split from in 2014 after 10 years of marriage.
When they described their split as a ‘conscious uncoupling’ in a joint statement, which was widely mocked for sounding new-age or overly self-important, rather than a straightforward divorce announcement.
Speaking on the Good Hang podcast, Paltrow said the reaction to their statement became so negative that she lost out on a movie role.
‘I was meant to do a movie and it was right after the conscious uncoupling thing with Chris. The distributor was like, this might be too hot to touch.’
She sarcastically added: ‘That was great because I was getting a divorce and then I got fired, that was so awesome.’
