Walmart Supercenter celebrates storewide remodel in Salinas, Calif.
The Walmart Supercenter on N. Davis Road unveils a multimillion-dollar remodel, with a ribbon-cutting, associate recognition and the awarding of grants to three community organizations.
Both Walmart Supercenters in Salinas will offer free health screenings and no-cost flu shots this Saturday, as part of a nationwide initiative occurring at nearly 4,600 Walmart pharmacies.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Jan. 24, “The Wellness Event” will take place at Walmart Supercenter, 1800 N. Main St. and Walmart Supercenter, 1375 N. Davis Road in Salinas.
Walmart’s pharmacy, vision and wellness teams will deliver health screenings, guidance and access to affordable or no-cost immunizations (for most insurance plans), including the flu vaccine.
Seasonal influenza activity for the state of California is “elevated” due to the H3N2 flu strain, subclade K, and hospital and emergency room visits are up, according to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), which urges vaccination for everyone 6 months and older.
Walmart’s wellness event will also feature wellness sample boxes with snacks, supplements and other curated items (while supplies last). Walmart has also lowered prices on more than 1,000 wellness products.
“A fresh year brings fresh motivation, and The Wellness Event is our way of helping customers turn that motivation into meaningful action,” said Kevin Host, Senior Vice President of Pharmacy at Walmart in a company announcement. “With convenient, trusted care and everyday wellness solutions, we’re committed to meeting people where they are and supporting their health goals in practical, affordable ways.”
What to expect at Walmart ‘The Wellness Event’
Since 2014, Walmart’s wellness events have delivered more than 5 million free health screenings. On Saturday, Jan. 24, customers can expect the following.
- Free health screenings including blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose and BMI at nearly 4,600 Walmart pharmacies.
- Complimentary vision screenings at select Vision Center locations.
- No-cost flu shots plus affordable immunizations such as RSV, shingles, tetanus, HPV and more.
- Guidance from trusted Walmart pharmacists, offering nutrition insights, medication support and personalized recommendations.
- Curated wellness sample boxes featuring nutritious snacks, vitamins, supplements and other essentials to fuel 2026 health journeys.
Safeway offers $20 store voucher for customers getting flu vaccine
Safeway is offering free flu vaccines and a $20 grocery coupon for their next purchase to every person who receives a qualifying vaccine. Appointments can be made online via the Safeway app or website.
There are two Safeway locations in Salinas: 1516 Constitution Blvd. and 1546 N. Main St.
