Heart disease is the leading cause of death in West Virginia, according to the American Heart Association. The fair, held in recognition of American Heart Month, is designed to eliminate barriers to care by offering free services to those who might not seek healthcare otherwise.

Too often, we hear of people delaying or skipping essential screenings that could potentially prove to be lifesaving.

ARH is always looking for ways to not only encourage folks to prioritize their health, but to also make it easier.

The Heart Healthy Fair will offer a variety of free services including EKGs, lipid panels, stroke assessments and blood pressure screenings. Participants will also receive instruction on how to perform hands-only CPR and tips for healthy eating and living.

The event includes door prizes and a chance to win a goodie basket. Interventional cardiologist Dr. Malik Al-Omari and cardiology nurse practitioner Allie Gunnoe will be on-site in case a patient needs assistance.
