Health Update: Health Update: Aarogyam Anandam – Vibe 4 Wellness: Kerala Launches People’s Campaign for Health and Wellness – What Experts Say– What Experts Say.
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala’s Health Department launched the ‘Aarogyam Anandam – Vibe 4 Wellness’ campaign on January 1, 2026, to promote healthier lifestyles and tackle the rising prevalence of lifestyle diseases across the state.
Ahead of the campaign, a promotional rally that began from Kasaragod on December 26 traveled through multiple districts and concluded in Thiruvananthapuram on New Year’s Day.
The initiative focused on four key pillars of healthy living: balanced nutrition, age- appropriate exercise, adequate sleep, and proper healthcare. Citizens were encouraged to reduce salt, sugar, and oil in their diets, engage in at least 30 minutes of daily exercise, maintain proper sleep habits, and avoid smoking and alcohol. On the launch day, an estimated one million people joined fitness centres across the state.
Implemented under Aardram Mission 2, the campaign saw collaboration between the Health Department and departments including AYUSH, Education, Sports, Local Self-Government, Youth Welfare, and Women and Child Development. Under AYUSH’s leadership, 10,000 yoga clubs and community health centre clubs participated. Awareness programmes engaged school and college students, senior citizens, and institutions from hotels to fitness centres. Districts hosted activities including cycle rallies, group exercises, Zumba sessions, yoga training, and food festivals.
The campaign builds on the success of the earlier ‘Aarogyam Anandam – Akattam Arbudam’ initiative, which screened over 2 million people for cancer in two phases starting February 2025. With lifestyle disease prevention as a key focus, the Health Department continues to encourage positive personal health habits and active participation across the state.
