William Shatner just broke his silence on the viral photo of him eating cereal in a car through a clever ad—and fans are calling him a “treasure.”

On Friday, Jan. 23, the Star Trek actor, 94, took to Instagram with a video message for fans. The post, titled “Why I was eating cereal in the car,” came in the wake of pictures of him chowing down on a bowl of cereal on Jan. 19 circulating widely online.

“Fiber in its various forms—and of course in Kellogg’s cereals—it’s an absolute necessity for good health,” he said in the clip. “And the more I think about it, the more important it becomes to me. And that old adage that there’s nothing better for you than your health. I know firsthand how health is so important.”

Shatner continued, “It’s even a cliché to say so important, it’s of the utmost importance in your life. If you don’t have health, you don’t have love. You don’t have ease. You are permanently disturbed. With health, equanimity, love, and you can appreciate everything and everybody around you.”

In the caption, the actor behind Captain James T. Kirk added, “And yes, it was Raisin Bran. #ad.”

In the comments, fans reacted to Shatner’s video, with one Instagram follower writing, “Bro is almost 95 and looks great, I’m eating Raisin Bran now.”

Another declared, “This man is a treasure. And I love Raisin Bran! Can’t say I’ve eaten it in my car, but I wouldn’t say no to it.”

Someone else shared, “You keep right on eating car cereal! I think it’s awesome, and Raisin Bran is delicious. We love you, man!”

A different follower pointed out, “You can do whatever you want, you are The Captain!!.”

Meanwhile, yet another Instagram user echoed, “Mr Shatner, with everything you have done and are still doing at nearly 95, you do not have to explain and damn thing. .”

As far as Shatner’s comments about health being important, the actor was hospitalized in September following an “issue with his blood sugar while at his home in Los Angeles,” according to his agent, per TMZ. He also previously opened up about struggling with tinnitus for years.
