Fans of Scottish singer Susan Boyle, who won Britain’s Got Talent series three, have compared her new appearance to Benjamin Button claiming she is ageing in reverse

Susan Boyle left fans stunned by a recent photo, leading some to suggest she’s ageing “backwards”. The Scottish singer first rose to fame in 2008 after winning the third series of ITV’s talent show, Britain’s Got Talent.

Before her initial audition, her appearance was met with laughter from the audience and smirks from judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan as she expressed her ambition to emulate Elaine Page. However, her performance of ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ from Les Miserables immediately won over the panel and kick-started her career. By 2021, she had sold an impressive 25 million records.

Fast forward 18 years from that debut TV appearance, and the West Lothian-born star is looking better than ever.

In anticipation of her 65th birthday on April 1, Susan shared a picture of herself donning a football shirt and sporting a blonde makeover on Instagram.

Striking a pose with her hands on her hips, she wrote: “I’m so proud to support the wonderful charity, Street Soccer Scotland. I’ve absolutely loved getting my hands on this beautiful limited edition Street Soccer Scotland x Timorous Beasties football shirt.”

She continued her endorsement for the charity, adding: “Every shirt sold helps give people experiencing homelessness hope and the chance to create positive change through football. We’re all on the same team.”

Reacting to the post, one Instagram user asked in disbelief: “How does she look younger?”

A second fan recalled: “I remember watching you 17 years ago and my God we’re you absolutely amazing. And here you are today. You look fabulous.”

While a third pondered: “OMG, are you Benjamin Button? Looking so youthful and really pretty in your cute tee.”

A fourth admirer said: “Wow! You look fabulous. Keep up the good work, and sing. I have always enjoyed your singing. Absolutely beautiful.”

Susan is aiming to return to music this year after a seven-year break from performing. The singer had scheduled a tour for 2020, but the Covid-19 pandemic meant it had to be scrapped.

Then in 2023, during her appearance in the Britain’s Got Talent series 16 final, she revealed she had experienced a stroke, pushing back her return even further.

“It’s extra special for me, actually, because last April there, I suffered a minor stroke,” she told hosts, Ant and Dec at the time. “I fought like crazy to get back on stage and I have done it.”

In April 2025, she posted on Instagram for the first time in two years, updating followers that she’d been working in the recording studio. “Today was wonderful, emotional, and everything in between,” she said.

“I made my return to the recording studio for the first time in six years, something I was told I might never achieve again. But here we are, in my happy place! I want to thank my manager, Geraldine, for being my absolute rock through everything and for helping me get back to where I belong. A million thanks.”
