“Barbie” star Ryan Gosling turned a late night TV interview into a special birthday moment for his wife Eva Mendes.

The actor appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” to discuss his upcoming film “Project Hail Mary”, but the conversation took a warm turn when Gosling revealed he had planned a surprise for Mendes, who had just turned 52.

During the interview with host Jimmy Fallon, Gosling mentioned that Mendes has a deep admiration for teachers.

Little did she know, the audience was filled almost entirely with them, making for a heartfelt surprise she never saw coming. 

Gosling then asked the audience if they would help him celebrate his wife’s birthday and moments later, Mendes was brought onto the stage, visibly completely unaware of what was about to happen.

As she walked in, the audience began to sing the birthday anthem, catching the actress off guard.

Just as the teacher reveal settled in, Fallon dropped another bombshell.

The North Bergen High School marching band paraded into the studio, serenading a stunned Mendes with the birthday song and a “Happy Birthday Eva” banner.

Standing next to Gosling, Mendes laughed, applauded and soaked in the moment while the band finished their performance.

She also took a moment to acknowledge the teachers in the audience, thanking them for the work they do and the impact they have on communities.

“Thank you so much, we owe so much to you guys. You’re so underpaid, I just thank you so much. I had so many amazing teachers mentor me and I just wanna say thank you to you guys,” she said.

This wasn’t just a birthday surprise, it was a rare public outing for a couple known for keeping their romance strictly out of the spotlight.

The couple met in 2011 while filming “The Place Beyond the Pines” and have built a reputation for keeping their family life extremely private.

They share two children together, Esmeralda Amada Gosling and Amada Lee Gosling.

Mendes has previously explained why fans do not often see the two attending events together. Responding to a fan on Instagram in 2023, she said they prefer to keep their personal life away from public view.

“We don’t do those things together,” she wrote at the time, referring to red carpet appearances.
