Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has sent a warning to comedian and content creator Carter Efe before their celebrity boxing match scheduled for May 1 at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos.
In a video circulating online, Portable mocked Carter Efe’s training and criticized the person coaching him, singer Small Doctor.
Portable said he had once fought Small Doctor at the house of businessman Abu Abel and claimed he defeated him. According to Portable, that experience pushed Small Doctor to start learning boxing.
Speaking in Pidgin English, Portable said that even if Carter Efe trains in the gym, he will still defeat him. He also told Carter Efe to look for a better coach.
Portable has some experience in celebrity boxing. He previously won exhibition fights against actor Charles Okocha and entertainer Speed Darlington.
The upcoming fight between Portable and Carter Efe is part of a boxing event called Chaos in the Ring fight night. The event is approved by the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control.
The fight is being promoted by Balmoral Group Promotions in partnership with Amir Khan’s AK Promotions, and it will be broadcast worldwide on DAZN.
Besides the celebrity fight, the event will also include professional boxing matches. One major fight will be a cruiserweight match between Ezra Arenyeka and Godday Appah, along with several other African and international boxing bouts.
The event is expected to be an important moment for boxing entertainment in Africa.
