Over the last few years, fans have noticed a major change in how the actress approaches her beauty routine. The Sonsie skincare founder, who turns 58 in July, has ditched makeup for on-screen appearances and major red-carpet events.
As Pamela revealed to Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones during a February 11 taping of Today With Jenna and Sheinelle, she’s not opposed to wearing makeup. But she also made a conscious decision not to wear it every day—and for a good reason.
“I love makeup, and I still wear it, especially in film and theater on stage,” she stated in a clip posted on TikTok. “I get to play with it all the time. But I don’t want to play a character in my personal life, which I felt like I would start to really get into becoming a caricature or even a cartoon image … which is not me. I was just having fun, and I felt like I needed to separate from that. So, I really peeled it back to discover who I was again and figure out what my original thoughts are.”
The change even impacted her career.
“When that happened, people started looking at me differently for different roles,” she added. “I’ve done five movies, a play, and a musical, in the last, you know, 24 months. So, yeah, I’m working a lot.”
When fans heard Pamela’s candid thoughts about beauty as she ages, they were left inspired.
