What makes someone a “celebrity”? Honestly, that often comes down to personal interpretation.

But it seems local content creator Charlene Huang, also known as Aizaiaisteady, and one particular netizen clearly don’t see eye to eye on the definition.

A recent video shared by local content page newherefun featured the TikTok “Ah Lian”-turned-actress introducing a kway chap stall in Tampines.

While the clip itself appeared perfectly wholesome, a casual remark Charlene made in the video unexpectedly rubbed some viewers the wrong way.

“So even if we’re celebrities, we’re still ordinary people and I still have to queue,” quipped the Aunty Like, Aunty Subscribe! leading lady.

It was clearly meant as a joke — but not everyone saw it that way.

Several netizens were quick to mock Charlene for referring to herself as a “celebrity”, with one bluntly asking: “Are you crazy?”

Charlene, however, appeared especially offended by another reply that took things further.

“Who is she? Call herself celebrity? Shameless,” read the comment, complete with an eye-rolling emoji and a laughing-till-crying one.

The remark evidently struck a nerve, prompting Charlene to publicly call the netizen out on social media.

Sharing a screenshot of his comment and tagging him directly on her Instagram Stories, Charlene wrote: “Aiyo, so sad leh. Why you so rude?”

“Last time I always support your jelly [stall] one leh,” she added, referring to the netizen — who, according to his Instagram profile, is a chef and owns a jelly business. “I call myself [a celebrity] you also cannot take it meh?” she then laughed.

Not long after, Charlene doubled down by reposting a message from a friend and tagging the netizen once again.

She claimed the friend had experienced similarly unpleasant interactions with the same individual, which made her “feel better” as she was “not the only one”.

According to Charlene, her friend even alleged that the netizen had “also acted like a celebrity” in the past.

“Could it be that you and I are both shameless celebrities?” Charlene then snarled.

As of press time, it remains unclear whether the netizen has responded to Charlene’s public call-out. However, his comment is still visible on the newherefun video.
