Leonardo DiCaprio’s 8-word message to his co-star has been revealed after an animated display at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards.

The 51-year-old actor went viral for a candid moment at the recent Golden Globes where he was filmed allegedly mimicking someone’s reaction to the Netflix animated film KPop Demon Hunters winning two awards. The person he was speaking to is widely suspected to be his One Battle After Another co-star, actress Chase Infiniti, who is a huge K-pop fan.

While Leonardo might’ve lost out to his fellow actor Timothée Chalamet at at the awards ceremony, who was caught in an awkward moment with Kylie Jenner, he seemed to have a ball at the event nonetheless. During the evening, the 15-time Golden Globe nominee was caught on camera in a playful exchange as he raised his fingers to his eyes and impersonated his co-star.

Analyzing this footage, Nicola Hickling, a forensic lip-reading expert & analyst at LipReader, told the Mirror US he said, “I was watching you with the K-pop thing.” The Titanic star continued, “You were like, ‘Who’s that? Is it… Oh, K-pop!'”

After the official Globe Globe TikTok account shared the 30-second clip, many fans took to the comment section sharing their love for Leonardo and seeing a new fun-loving side to his personality. One fan commented, “Leo in ‘public’ and leo in private such a different vibe. he should open up more :)).”

Another added, “See why can’t he give this much personality all the time? He acts too cool but we know he’s goofy.”

While a third chimed in, “First time I’ve seen him relaxing, being himself.” And someone else complimented, “He looks like he’s having so much fun nice to see him like this.”

Dozens of others compared Leonardo to Hollywood legend Jack Nicolson, who is also known for his theatrical displays. One fan wrote, “He’s basically Jack Nicolson without sunglasses.” Another person asked, “how do we know he isn’t Nicholson’s son for sure?”

And a third fan chimed in, “If they remake the shining he could play jack.” And a fourth wrote, “So if Jack Nicolson and Marlon Brando had a baby…”

At the ceremony, Leonardo was nominated in the Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy category for his role as “Ghetto” Pat Calhoun, in Paul Thomas Anderson’s 2025 black comedy thriller, One Battle After Another. Leonardo ended up losing out in this category to his fellow nominee Timothée for his performance in Marty Supreme.

While Leonardo didn’t win an individual acting award, the film he starred in, One Battle After Another, was a big winner of the night. The film secured four awards in total, including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, Best Director and Best Screenplay.
