The Kyle and Jackie O saga is “far from over”, says a leading Australian entertainment reporter.

Peter Ford has shared more thoughts thoughts on the dispute between the two radio hoststhat began with an on-air argument on February 20, telling 3AW Breakfast, “I’m told there’s a very, very long and very dark cloud hanging over their future”.

“Now, of course, it’s really going to get serious,” he added.

During a conversation on air today, Ford spoke about the tricky position Kyle Sandilands and Jackie Henderson are in following their public dispute and the end of their show.

Ford says the situation will be escalated, though the tension between the two has ”been in a holding pattern for a while.”

He imagines frantic meetings taking place behind the scenes at ARN, between “sales department, HR, legal, programming”, trying to navigate the situation.

Ford warns “people dancing on [Sandilands’] grave may be just a little bit too premature” as he suggests there is the possibility the broadcaster could come out on the other side of this feud.

Sandilands has been asked to “remedy” his alleged misconduct during his two-week suspention, and Ford says he “may be able to pull that off” and “get back on air with a reduced pay packet.”

If the station doesn’t take Sandilands back, Ford believes he “will absolutely go for unfair dismissal” and that “Jackie is certainly planning to go after them for being in an unsafe workplace.”

“The executive producer on the radio show is also Kyle’s manager,” Ford added, and explaining this could have lead to Henderson feeling a lack of “neutrality.”

Responding to criticisms of Sandilands describing him as “a vile misogynist pig”, Ford countered, “He was the one who went to the radio network when they were doing the contracts and said, ‘She earns the same as me.'”

“They are godparents to each other’s children, they for 27 years had a great mateship, which is unusual. [They] never ever, at any point, have a kind of sexual tension between them,” he continued.

“As far as Kyle was concerned, it was a double act, so I think he is feeling very much that she has betrayed him at the moment and doing this in such a public way.

“Maybe if he had turned up with a bunch of flowers and knocked on her door, this could all be playing out very differently.”

Jackie Henderson has left the Kyle and Jackie O Show after 22 years following an on-air argument between her and Kyle Sandilands during the program on February 20.

Ford suggested the clash was not handled appropriately by the network, suggesting ARN may be pleased the $100 million contract will come to an end.

“It really makes me think that there is elements within that network who are absolutely thrilled that this has come apart, because that crazy contract is now being ripped up.”
