Jacob Elordi, known for his breakthrough roles in the Netflix rom-com franchise The Kissing Booth and the hit HBO teen drama Euphoria, has hit a milestone in his career with his first-ever Golden Globe nominations.
The 28-year-old heartthrob is up for two Golden Globe Awards: Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for his role as The Creature in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein and Best Actor in a Limited Series or TV Movie for his performance in the Australian drama The Narrow Road to the Deep North.

The Gen Z icon was born in Brisbane to a house painter father and a stay-at-home mom. Jacob grew up in a working-class home and played sports in school, though he always had an interest in acting, which his mother encouraged. After a rugby injury, he began to pursue a career as an actor, citing Heath Ledger’s performance as the Joker in The Dark Knight as a major inspiration.
Jacob performed in various school musicals, beginning at the age of 12, including Seussical and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He also began taking acting classes and practicing his American accent, which he reportedly modeled after that of Fast and the Furious star Vin Diesel.
When he was 15, he read the play Waiting for Godot in drama class, and, according to him, acting “became his church,” and he devoured the biographies of various actors whom he emulated and drew inspiration from, like Marlon Brando, Laurence Olivier, Christian Bale, and Daniel Day-Lewis.
After attending a performing arts school in Melbourne, Jacob moved to the U.S in 2017, at the age of 19, to pursue his Hollywood dreams. His first on-set experience was as an extra in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, before landing his first acting role in the 2018 Australian film Swinging Safari.
His breakthrough role was as bad boy jock Noah Flynn in the Netflix romantic comedy The Kissing Booth, which premiered in May 2018 and became one of the most-watched titles on the streaming platform, catapulting Jacob into the spotlight. He also appeared in the sequels The Kissing Booth 2 and The Kissing Booth 3.
Despite his Netflix success, Jacob recalled sleeping in his car on Mulholland Drive and couch surfing, as he was quickly running out of money and his visa was set to expire soon.
After helping a friend tape his audition for Sam Levinson’s HBO series Euphoria, he auditioned for the show as a last-ditch effort to get work before moving back home to Australia. Soon after, he was cast as Nate Jacobs in the critically acclaimed series alongside Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney, which premiered in 2019.
After the viral success of Euphoria, Jacob’s career as a leading man and Hollywood heartthrob took off.
In 2023, he starred as Elvis Presley in Sophia Coppola’s A24 drama Priscilla, as well as alongside Barry Keoghan in Emerald Fennell’s psychological thriller, Saltburn, which earned him a BAFTA nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.
In 2025, he starred in the miniseries The Narrow Road to the Deep North and played The Creature in Guillermo del Toro’s Netflix adaptation of Frankenstein. His work earned him numerous accolades, including his first-ever Golden Globe nominations in both film and television categories, solidifying his star status.
Jacob has multiple upcoming projects in the works this year, including starring as Heathcliff opposite Margot Robbie in Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights, set to be released on February 13. The highly anticipated final season of Euphoria debuts in April, and he is also starring in Ridley Scott’s sci-fi The Dog Stars, which is set to hit theaters on August 28.
The 83rd Golden Globe Awards will be broadcast live on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ on Sunday, January 11, at 8 PM EST
