Black Coffee’s 50th birthday celebration over the weekend at Beau Constantia in the Mother City was certainly a luxurious and star-studded affair.

The Grammy award-winning DJ marked his 50th birthday surrounded by both international and local celebs, who flooded social media with numerous posts from the extravagant birthday bash.

The guest list included Somizi Mhlongo, Oscar Mbo, DJ Fresh, DJ Maphorisa, Maglera Doe Boy, Athi Geleba, Cassper Nyovest, DJ Shimza, Swizz Beats, Oskido, Fikile Mbalula and more.

While comedian Mpho Popps served as the MC of the night, keeping the guests entertained and musical trio, Biko’s Manna serenaded the crowd with a performance during the dinner.

Friends and family made their speeches to honour Black Coffee and his girlfriend, Victoria Gonzalez stole the spotlight with heartfelt words as she reflected on their love journey during her speech.

“Real love stories are not perfect; they stretch you, they challenge you and believe me, this month challenged me and stressed me every day,” the model said.

“But the most beautiful love stories are not the easy ones. They are the ones with growth, the ones that fall apart and rise again, because love is not about ever breaking; it’s about choosing each other again and again, and somehow through everything, we did. Today, I see a man who carries the weight of the world that asks so much from him.”

She added that she found her sense of home in the DJ.

“Somewhere along the way, I realised something very simple. Home was never a place, it was always a person. And you were my home all along,” she said.

It was a night of pure elegance, featuring a sea of sleek black suits and show-stopping gowns.

After a legendary set by Swizz Beatz and his son, Kasseem Dean, at the after-party, the celebration moved to the iconic shores of Clifton.

The following day, Black Coffee hosted “Cassa Coffee” at The Bungalow, where DJ Maphorisa kept the crowd moving before Black Coffee stepped behind the booth to join the magic.
