I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here has officially wrapped and while all the rest of the campmates watched the finale together, Luke Bateman choose not to join them (or watch it at all). Luke, who was one of the finalists alongside Gary Sweet, told WHO he didn’t watch Concetta Caristo get crowned Queen of the Jungle.

“I had my manager ring me though when the announcement and everything happened so I did know,” he said. “But I didn’t have my eyeballs on it.”

Instead, the former NRL player turned BookTok star had an early night.

Why did Luke not watch the finale?

Luke didn’t watch the finale out of a lack of interest, but more because he was already onto his next challenge: writing his debut novel…nay, series!

While the BookTok personality announced the deal in 2025, signing with Atria Books Australia for a fantasy series, reaction online was mixed. Nevertheless, he has stayed the course, prioritising writing over, well, the infamous I’m A Celeb after-party.

“My book is the most important thing in my life right now,” he admitted. “I’m in Western Queensland. I was sitting in my caravan writing my book last night.”

His fantasy series is rumoured to draw inspiration from Australia’s natural landscape, hence why he spoke to WHO from his caravan in the bush.

“I’m in the bush and I just look out my windows and I’m surrounded by trees,” he said. “I don’t have a typewriter, I have a MacBook but everything else is here.”

How does Luke feel about the result?

Luke was in two minds about the result.

“It was really tough for me because I wanted two results,” he said. “I wanted my charity to win. I wanted it 100% for my charity, but I wanted Concetta to win.”

Luke’s chosen charity was Farm Angels. Speaking to Channel 10, he spoke about how “they support farmers during difficult periods with any assistance they need – be that financial or personal.”

“I chose them because they are a charity that is very close to my heart, and they do amazing work helping people in rural communities. It is special to me because I grew up in a rural community and know just how important help is to people isolated in the country.”

However, he also was really rooting for Concetta to win.

“So, you know, I was really torn because, yeah, because obviously I wanted to win for my charity, but I truly, truly wanted Concetta to be crowned queen.”

Despite being unable to attend the I’m a Celeb finale party with the other campers, Luke explained he sent a selfie to their shared group chat, sending them all his love.

“I messaged them all and said, ‘Have a wonderful night together. I love you all’,” he said.

More than anything, Luke was grateful for the relationships he built with the other contestants, saying he had “formed many, many good friendships from [his] time in the jungle.”

As this star trades the jungle for the bush, we’re excited for what’s next for this budding novelist.
